Little Memories
Sometimes we get distracted.
It's important to schedule lessons (we homeschool), clean the house, and go on adventures. Sometimes, though, we just need to relax and make a memory.
Today, my daughter finished learning about a sea animal she loves. She finished a poster and gave a presentation that we recorded about it. She was very proud of herself. Later, she led a circle time activity that she thought of all by herself. She especially loved the block rotation and the lego rotation during centers. I was pleased that she was able to solve two puzzles when I mixed the pieces together.
But, even with all her great school-y accomplishments, her journal entry read, "Today I played bumper cars with Nick."
She likes to talk about the best, most memorable, or most exciting part of her day in her journal. Their bumper car game consisted of the two of them (Nick is 4) crashing into each other as they played on the swings outside. That was it. It was simple, it was easy, and it was memorable.
Sometimes we need to let the good distractions go, be a little silly, and make a memory.
