Little Memories
Sometimes we get distracted.
It's important to schedule lessons (we homeschool), clean the house, and go on adventures. Sometimes, though, we just need to relax and make a memory.
Today, my daughter finished learning about a sea animal she loves. She finished a poster and gave a presentation that we recorded about it. She was very proud of herself. Later, she led a circle time activity that she thought of all by herself. She especially loved the block rotation and the lego rotation during centers. I was pleased that she was able to solve two puzzles when I mixed the pieces together.
But, even with all her great school-y accomplishments, her journal entry read, "Today I played bumper cars with Nick."
She likes to talk about the best, most memorable, or most exciting part of her day in her journal. Their bumper car game consisted of the two of them (Nick is 4) crashing into each other as they played on the swings outside. That was it. It was simple, it was easy, and it was memorable.
Sometimes we need to let the good distractions go, be a little silly, and make a memory.

M&M Binge
I may have eaten two cups of M&Ms today.
I'm sure it was my husband's fault since he left them out on the counter last night.
I took the kids outside this morning and thought I'd suck on one while they played.
Then one of the 2-year olds said she pooped in her panties, so I needed a small handful of them. I laid the baby down and took the 2-year old to the bathroom. I carefully peeled off her shoes, socks, pants, and then...her clean panties! I was thrilled! She agreed to poop in the potty when it came again. I needed a few more M&Ms to celebrate!
When we came inside, all three boys were drenched. I changed their clothes and ate a few candies to go with the extra clothes-cleaning work.
I ate a couple more after lunch since I needed a dessert.
As I was tucking the kids in for their naps, the same little girl told me she pooped in her panties. This time she meant it. I definitely deserved a small handful of candies after that clean-up project!
Finally, all the kids were asleep...but only for a few seconds. I carried the baby around with me for a few minutes, sucking on M&Ms as we walked. She fell right back to sleep. I laid her down again, and thought I'd share my M&M binge with the world.
It's now 2:00...I really should seal the bag and return it to the cupboard that's so high I need a stool to climb into it. We'll see how long everyone sleeps...
